Classic Car Rally
The George at Croscombe
Join the Croscombe Classic Club on a 40 mile rally across the Mendips. Pass the sites of some of the companies contributing to the Festival at the George, such as Newman’s Brewery at Banwell, Thatcher’s cider at Sandford, and Britten’s Potatoes at Downhead. Advance entry of £15 per person includes rally plate, certificates and a Traditional two-course Mendip Sunday lunch on the return. Assemble by 10:30am for staged departure at 11am.

As part of this years Festival, the Gaymer Cider Company invite you take a fascinating tour of their Cider Mill. Tours will begin at 2pm on both days in the Cider House with refreshments and an introductory talk. Visitors will then be taken on an extensive site tour, where they will see the apple processing, production and bottling facility, before afternoon tea in the Cider House and a tasting of the end product! Numbers are limited to 25 visitors per tour and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. All visitors must be over the age of 18. Please no group bookings.

Chaired by Steve Haigh of BBC Somerset Sound, this event, which is part of the Mendip Food & Drink Festival, promises to be a lively debate on the current issues of food and its production and distribution.
There will be a panel of experts, including Baroness Sue Miller, Liberal Democrat spokesperson on the Environment, Farming and Rural Affairs in the House of Lords; Anthony Gibson, Regional Director of the NFU South West Region; Graham Harvey, well known agricultural author and broadcaster; Oliver Dowding who is part of Defra's Advisory Committee on Organic Standards, on the Soil Association Producer Board, and known to many in the area for his fortnightly agricultural column in the Blackmore Vale Magazine and Archie Montgomery, a Somerset farmer, who has been chairperson of the NFU Biotechnology Committee and is Chair of the NFU SW Region Arable Board.
The event is sponsored by Somerset Food Links, The Wessex Organic Movement, Somerset Organic Link, and Mendip District Council Waste Team.

Blooming Youth is a new organic gardening volunteer programme held at Glastonbury allotments for -
Young people aged 16-25, who are interested in learning the skills to run an organic garden. People aged 50+ willing to share these skills with the younger generation.
It offers a semi-supportive growing space where people of different ages can work together to produce year-round organic vegetables, fruit and herbs.
