District Council
In support of one of the Council’s
current strategic objectives of achieving ‘greater local prosperity’,
the District Council provides grant aid support to Somerset Food
Links Ltd, which has a specific brief to promote the production
and consumption of local food and drink products, and also works
in partnership with other local authorities and bodies in this respect.
Somerset as a county is well-known for its traditional food and
drink and the council is keen to build on this image through encouraging
residents, community groups and visitors to learn about and to eat
more local produce, via the very interesting and varied events which
will make up this third Mendip Food & Drink Festival. The Council
sincerely hopes that everyone involved will enjoy and benefit from
this exciting programme.

Food from around the corner - not around the world. Farrington’s encompasses everything that’s good about a farm shop: farm-grown vegetables and an ever-growing home-made range, plus the widest selection of top quality, locally produced foods, including Jon Thorner’s meat. It offers customers great value too, with attractive prices and a highly rewarding Loyalty Card scheme. Visiting Farrington’s isn’t simply ‘going shopping’. It’s an enjoyable experience for all the family. Buy good, wholesome, local food, see the dairy herd, meet the cute youngsters in the Baby Barn, marvel at Gert, the high flying Friesian – then relax in our award winning café.
Owned and run by Tish & Andy Jeffery from Home Farm, Farrington’s Farm Shop has helped to take farm retailing into a new dimension. As farmers themselves, the Jefferys recognise the importance of supporting local enterprise. From the outset it’s been part of Farrington’s policy to buy from as many local farmers and small, specialist suppliers as possible. Therefore, Farrington’s is very pleased to be a main sponsor of the Mendip Food & Drink Festival.
